It's a very nice variable ND btw, with no visible colour casts either. That would be pretty amazing if it could do so. I have a Hoya one that is rated to 10 stops, so I can get a usable 8 stops out of it which is good for me. These shots were taken with the Singh Ray set to max 8 stops I can't see any visible X pattern. The prevalence of the "X" effect is often heavily dependent on focal length. Wider fields of view tend to make the "X" effect more of an issue. I think it's more prevalent in the cheaper Variable ND's.
