Should i be using a 'bigger' switch, or a relay instead of a switch assuming i can find one that's usually 'on' and just use the switch to operate disconnect the relay??

Re: BSI 'shunt' switch? Post by wheeler » Sat Dec 01, pm What about finding the cause of the fault in the first place? Two things off hand I can think of that can cause this problem is either an incorrectly fitted aftermarket radio or a faulty com Have to had the fault looked at?

Post by nobeard » Sat Dec 01, pm Hi, i'm afraid it still has it's original Clarion radio and Lexia reports the fault as "communication with transponder" which as far as i can gather indicates either a faulty com unit, or a faulty BSI unit or possibly a fault somewhere in the wiring between the two. I believe it most likely is the com unit but i don't know that for certain and i can't afford to buy one in the hope it does sort the problem out, in case it doesn't. Post by nobeard » Mon Dec 03, pm Well at least i don't feel quite as thick as i thought i must be for not being able to work this one out myself.

If anyone's interested, i tried a relay 30A, i think instead of that switch but with the same result, it worked fine as a link but it only switched off, wouldn't switch back on. I've seen them on ebay from scrapped cars so i asked if one from another car would work but he said definately no, it is specific to the car.

If that's right then i guess it means it must need to be programmed so is this something that can be done using Lexia or will i need to get them to do it..
