Once Dotty relayed the information to Nick, the duplicitous duo formed a plan to kill Dot and inherit her money. Having spent weeks tricking Dot into thinking she was suffering from dementia, Nick instructed Dotty to give Dot an overdose of her medication. Although it initially looked like Dotty was going to go through with the unthinkable, she had a huge change of heart at the eleventh hour and put the pills in Nick's drink instead.

A bold move — and one that had catastrophic consequences…. Dotty might have come through for Dot after all, but the aftermath of the above actually sparked a terrifying siege situation in Walford.

That's because, when Nick discovered that Dotty had double crossed him, he dragged her to the cafe and held everyone inside hostage.

Although Dotty and the other hostages eventually managed to escape just in time, the building later exploded — allowing Nick to escape amid the commotion. Another of Dotty's notable storylines saw her get Dot arrested, when she reported her grandmother to the police for hitting her. Thankfully, Dot was soon released and all was forgiven. Let's hope she stays on the right side of the teenager this time, though!

It wasn't just poor Dot who fell victim to Dotty's conniving cons. Fellow schoolgirl Tiffany Butcher did, too. Tiff is wary — and a little bit irritated — when she learns her relative Dotty will be sticking around tonight.

And if we cast our minds back 10 years, it's not hard to see why. The girls were often thrown together during Dotty's last stint on the Square, but the differences between them were visible and vast. Despite a shaky start, the pair eventually struck up a tenuous friendship, but Dotty abused Tiff's trust with her nasty behaviour — which included stealing her bridesmaid's dress for Bianca's wedding and throwing her and her mp3 player — into a bin. With Dotty back in the Square, will it be water under the bridge for now?

Or is Tiff right to be suspicious of her? Although little is yet known about Dotty's future stories, her comeback will be sparking a brand new chapter in Dot's journey.

Described as "sharp-witted and with an eye for human weakness", Dotty will be making waves in Walford as she settles back in after a decade away. As to whether she can really be trusted this time, remains to be seen. Max books an ultrasound scan for Kirsty, but she secretly cancels it without telling Max. When Max finds out, he storms into the hospital and shouts at the receptionist.

Kirsty then suffers a panic attack, fearing that she may get found out. Max then apologises for pushing Kirsty into having the scan. Kirsty's ex-boyfriend Carl White arrives on the Square in June , and stirs up trouble for Max and Kirsty's relationship.

Max's eldest daughter Lauren Branning 's alcoholism reaches a dramatic climax when she collapses and is rushed to hospital and is diagnosed with hepatitis. While Max and Tanya are vigils at Lauren's bedside, Kirsty takes a pregnancy test, hoping she may actually be pregnant.

Unfortunately, Carl spies Kirsty talking to Kat about the situation, which leaves Kirsty reeling whether he heard any of their conversation. Kirsty takes the test which reveals that she is not pregnant. She hides it in the rubbish bin, hoping that Max will not find it.

When Max returns home from the hospital, he and Kirsty argue, leading to the rubbish bin to fall over. As soon as Kirsty sees the pregnancy test, she grabs it and hides it behind her back, but Max notices this and a physical struggle ensues over the test. Kirsty eventually drops the test and Max finds out the awful truth about her fake pregnancy.

Max then heads straight over to Tanya's house, but Kirsty follows him, leading to a public row in the street. Kirsty then gets drunk to hide the pain of the split. On 15 August , Kirsty is attacked by Carl's younger brother Adam. He attempts to mug her, but Carl comes to her aid and Kirsty runs off, and Carl attacks Adam. Later that day, Kirsty tells Max about the attack, and when he insults her and Carl, she slaps him.

Max then calls the police and Carl is arrested for dealing drugs, much to Kirsty's shock. Max then storms in and tries to attack Carl, but Kirsty manages to stop him.

In early September , Max becomes increasingly riled by Carl's presence on Albert Square, and the two come to blows in the middle of the street, but the fight is broken up by Max's younger brother Jack Branning. The next day, Carl invites Phil Mitchell for a ride in his car for work, but Carl drives wrecklessly and ends up crashing in the car, leading to Phil flying through the windscreen.
